Have you made the wonderful discovery of salvation and the spirit-filled life?

Natural Man

Spiritual Man

Carnal Man

Every Day can be an exciting adventure for the Christian who knows the reality of being filled with the holy spirit and who lives constantly, moment by moment under his gracious control.  The bible tells us there are three kinds of people:

#1. Natural Man
( One who has not received Christ ) " But a natural man does not except the things of the Holy Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually appraised" 1st Corinthians 2:14

The demonstration shows: the letter ( E )> ego or finite self on throne.  The cross is on the outside of the throne> he is outside the life.  The circles represent the interest controlled by self' often resulting in discord and frustration.

#2. Spiritual Man
( one who is controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit ) "but he who is spiritual appraises all things... 1st Corinthians 2:15

The demonstration shows: A Christ controlled life, the cross is on the throne of the life.  the letter ( E )=ego > is self dethroned.  the circles now represent all interest under control of infinite God, resulting in harmony with god's plan.

#3. Carnal Man
( One who has received Christ, but lives in defeat but he trust in his own efforts to live the Christian life.
( 1st Corinthians 3:1-3

The demonstration shows: a self controlled life. the letter ( e )=ego > ego or finite self is on the throne.  the cross showing Christ dethroned.  The circles now represent interest controlled by self, often resulting in discord and frustration.

 Natural man-Ist Corinthians 2:14

"But a natural man does not except the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them. because they are spiritually appraised".

John 3:4-6 1st Corinthians 3:1-3

Nicodemus said to him "how can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born again?  Jesus answered, most assuredly, I say to you unless one is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.---and I, brethren, could not speak to you as spiritual men, but as to carnal men, as to babes in Christ.  I gave you milk to drink, not solid food: for you were not yet able to receive it.  indeed, even now you are not able, for you are still carnal.  for since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?

Spiritual man-1st Corinthians 2:15 John 10:10 John 15:5 Galatians 5:22-23 Acts 1:8

But he who is spiritual appraises all things. ---Jesus said I came that they may have life and have it more abundantly. --- I am the vine, you are the branches: he who abides in  me, and I in him, he bears much fruit: for apart from me you can do nothing.--- but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control: against such things there is no law. --- but you shall receive power when the holy spirit has come upon you: and you shall be my witness both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. ---

Some personal traits which result from trusting God:

Christ-centered, empowered by the holy spirit, introduces others to Christ, effective prayer life, understands gods word, trust and obeys god, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness.   the degree to which these traits are manifested in life depends upon the extent to which the Christian trusts the Lord with every detail of his life, and upon his maturity in Christ.  one who is only beginning to understand the ministry of the holy spirit should not be discouraged if he is not as fruitful as more mature Christians who have known and experienced this truth for a longer period.

Carnal man-1st Corinthians 3:1 1st john 2:3, 3:6-9 Ephesians 5:5

"And I,  brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. --- now by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.--- whoever abides in him does not sin. whoever sins has neither seen him nor known him. little children,  let no one deceive you. he who practices righteousness is righteous, just as he is righteous.  he who sins is from the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.  for this purpose the son of god was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  whoever has been born of God does not sin, for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.--- for this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Some or all of the following traits may characterize the Christian who does not fully trust God:

"Ignorance of his spiritual heritance, unbelief, disobedience, loss of love for God and for others, poor prayer life, no desire for bible study, legalistic attitude, impure thoughts, jealousy, guilt, worry, discouragement, critical spirit, frustration, aimlessness.  the individual who professes to be a Christian but who continues to practice sin should realize that he may not be a Christian at all.

You can appropriate the filling of the holy spirit right now if you:

Sincerely desire to be controlled and empowered by the holy spirit.

Matthew 5: 6 > blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.  john 7: 37-39 > on the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out saying, "if anyone thirst let him come to me and drink.  he who believes in me, as the scripture has said out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."  but this he spoke concerning the spirit, whom those believing in him, in him would receive: for the holy spirit was not given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Confess your sins!

By faith thank God he has forgiven all of your sins- past, present, and future- because Christ died for you.

Colossians 2: 13-15 > and you,  being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh he has made alive together with  him, having forgiven all your trespasses. Having wiped out the requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us.  and he has taken it  out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.  Having disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

1st john 2: 1-3 > my little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin, and if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  and he himself is the appropriation for sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.  now by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Hebrews 10: 1-7 15-17 > For the law, having a  shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.  For then would they only have ceased to be offered? for the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins,  but in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.  therefore, when he came into the world, he said: "sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure.  Then I said 'behold I have come-in the volume of the book it is written of me to do your will, oh God'.

15-17 > But the holy spirit also witness to us: for after he had said before, this is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, then he adds: " their sins will be remembered not more."

"Present every area of your life to God:

Romans 12; 1-2 > I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of god, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,  acceptable to god, which is your reasonable service. and do not be conformed to this world , but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

By faith claim the fullness of the Holy Spirit, according to: his command

Ephesians 5: 18 > And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the spirit.

His promise-he will always answer us when we pray to him according to his will:

1st john 5: 14-15 > Now this is the confidence we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked him.

1st john 1: 8-9 > If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

bottom line, consider abc.

but in reverse, c=confession of sins, b=believe Christ died on the cross for your sins, then a=ask him to come into your heart to live

Dear father, I need you. I acknowledge that I have been in control of my life: and that, as a result I have sinned against you.  I thank you that you have forgiven  my sins through Christ's death on the cross for me.  I now invite you lord to again take control of  the throne of my life, fill me with the holy spirit as you commanded me to be filled, and as you promised in your word that you would do if I ask in faith.  I pray this in the name of Jesus.  as an expression of my faith, I now thank you for taking control of my life and for filling me with the Holy Spirit.

If you have given your heart to the Lord, and now trust him to begin a new life in you, finding a God believing church where the word of God is taught along with bible study and worship will be your next steps.  please follow through and ask the lord where he wants you to go and he will prepare for you a path to follow.  God bless you.
