Abortion: One of the Greatest Evils of Our Time “Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.” (Isaiah 59:7) Every year, approximately 45 million unborn babies are killed in induced abortions worldwide, 26 million of them legally. This war led by Satan against helpless little humans has almost as many casualties annually as the Second World War had altogether. The killers go unpunished and some of them make a lot of money out of this tragedy. They've never heard what God said: “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13), “The innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked” (Exodus 23:7) and “What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” (Genesis 4:10) “In the past three decades of the Abortion War, nearly 40 million children have been brutally murdered in the womb in the United States alone. This has been possible, largely, because of the effectiveness of an insidious propaganda campaign that has succeeded in convincing millions of Americans that the defenseless, unborn child is not a baby, a human, a tiny person, a gift from God, but merely a depersonalized blob of 'tissue', to be disposed of if it interferes with one’s life plans or career trajectory.” — William F. Jasper, The Survivors1 Life Begins at Conception, Therefore Abortion is Murder Although abortion providers may call an unborn child just a “mass of fetal tissue” or “the product of conception” to appease their own conscience and to lure uninformed women to have abortions, they know very well that babies are fully human from their conception and thus they are killing human beings. Doctors admit that there is no point in time before which a fetus could be called less than human. “As a doctor, you know that these are children; you know that these are human beings with arms and legs and heads and they move around and they are very active. But you get reminded – every time you put that scanner down on somebody’s uterus – you are reminded. Because you see the children in there – hearts beating, arms flinging.” — Dr. Anthony Levatino, former abortion provider2 “Willful abortion is the willful taking of life. Abortion kills real babies. There is simply no convincing argument against this. A human fetus does not suddenly become human the moment it emerges from the mother's womb. It is a growing, God-given, human life from the moment of conception (Psalm 139:13-16), clearly identifiable as a human at all stages of growth.” — Robert Doolan, The baby-killers3 “No one could deny today, that life begins with conception, and that the development of a human being is a uniform and uninterrupted process, with no single point where the embryo turns human... There is only one genuine and wonderful leap: conception! Through this, a new life sets off, with individualities that have never existed and can never recur. The biological and intellectual characteristics of this future person are already contained in the genetic material of the zygote.” — Prof. Dr. Széll Kálmán, Hungary4 We now know that at 3 weeks the baby's heart begins to beat, at 5 weeks her eyes, legs, hands begin to develop, at 6 weeks she has detectable brain waves, at 8 weeks all her key body parts are present, at 11 weeks all her organ systems are functioning and she has fingerprints. At 12 weeks she is able to experience pain, after 20–22 weeks she can survive outside her mother's womb, and most importantly: she is human all along. “Since abortion kills an innocent human being, it is nothing less than murder. So all the usual ‘hard cases’ pushed by pro-abortionists, e.g. ‘What if the woman was raped?’, ‘What if the child is deformed?’, ‘What if she can’t afford to keep the child?’ are completely irrelevant.” — Jonathan Sarfati, Abortion — The answer’s in Genesis5 “The world is enveloped in the culture of death. Each day, as it were, we breathe the air of death, trod the ground of death, and gaze upon the landscape of death. In chemical and surgical abortion, we face the greatest corporal moral evil any generation has ever faced.” — Jeff Ziegler, A most urgent work of mercy6 Barbaric Killing Techniques It would be very useful if all pregnant women considering abortion read brochures, medical books or web pages detailing abortion methods before entering an abortion clinic. Perhaps many of them would change their minds and avoid those butcher's shops. In the “vacuum curettage” and the Dilatation and Curettage (D&C) techniques used in 1st trimester abortions, and in the Dilatation and Evacuation (D&E) technique used in 2nd trimester abortions, the baby is cut or torn into pieces with different instruments, then she is removed from the womb. In chemically induced abortions during the 1st trimester, such as the RU 486 abortion pill, the protective nourishing environment of the baby is disintegrated, thus she starves to death. If methotrexate is used, the baby is poisoned. In both cases, a second drug, prostaglandin, is used to expel the dead baby from the womb. In 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions by induction method, the baby is usually killed first, and the mother given drugs to go into labor. One method to kill the baby is by an injection into her heart. Another one is salt poisoning, where part of the amniotic fluid is withdrawn through a needle and replaced with a solution of concentrated salt. The baby is poisoned, her skin burned and she dies a slow, cruel death. Sometimes other toxins are used instead of salt. When babies are not killed first, they are left to die after delivery. This happens when prostaglandin is injected into the amniotic sac and the mother goes into labor. Partial-birth abortion is used after 20 weeks of pregnancy. “Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist reaches into the uterus, grabs the unborn baby’s leg with forceps, and pulls the baby into the birth canal, except for the head, which is deliberately kept just inside the womb. (At this point in a partial-birth abortion, the baby is alive.) Then the abortionist jams scissors into the back of the baby’s skull and spreads the tips of the scissors apart to enlarge the wound. After removing the scissors, a suction catheter is inserted into the skull and the baby’s brains are sucked out. The collapsed head is then removed from the uterus.”7 Hysterotomy is used in 2nd and 3rd trimesters. This method is very similar to the Caesarean section: the baby is removed from the womb through an incision made in the mother's abdomen. In this procedure, the baby is sometimes born alive, then left to die. Unnoticed Baby Killing by Chemical Means Contraceptive chemicals such as the Pill, Depo-Provera, Norplant, the morning-after pill, and intrauterine devices have not only contraceptive but abortifacient effects as well: they alter the lining of the uterus, so even if conception occurs, the newly formed embryo can't be implanted in the womb. It has been estimated that in the US alone millions of unborn children are killed each year by means of these contraceptives. Overpopulation or Depopulation on the Horizon? We are being told that we face an overpopulation crisis. To avoid famines, wars and diseases, human reproduction must be limited. The myth of overpopulation is “the single greatest disinformation campaign in human history”8. In reality the world may soon be facing an under-population crisis. The world's population is aging, especially in developed countries, fertility rates fall, abortion and contraception increase. “In 1985, the world’s total fertility rate – the number of children born per woman in her reproductive lifetime – was 4.2. Now, worldwide, it’s 2.9 and dropping. Today 79 countries are dying because of birth rates below replacement level. These countries are home to 40% of the world’s population. By the year 2015, an estimated two-thirds of all the people on earth will live in countries with birth rates at or below replacement level, which is 2.1 babies per woman... This means that, if these trends continue as predicted, there will be global de-population, beginning in a little over 40 years. The UN estimates predict that the actual population of the world between 2040 and 2050 will drop by almost 100 million.”9 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!... Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.” (Matt. 23:23–24) Most induced abortions occur in countries where the killing is legalized on the basis that unborn babies are not human beings. Ungodliness and the pro-abortion propaganda which dehumanizes babies is most likely responsible for abortions in other countries. It would seem that laws in general are becoming more and more permissive, but this is not the case. The Thought Police is eager to fine or jail someone for expressing a politically incorrect view, let's say about the events of the above mentioned World War. Another example is the “war on terrorism”. Abortion providers kill more babies per day in the USA than there were people killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, nevertheless those attacks were used as a justification for attacking Afghanistan. Never before in history have we had such insane and unjust laws. Two remarks on this doublemindedness and hypocrisy: “Most of us have had to become somewhat doubleminded just to keep a vestige of sanity. We put warnings on cigarettes and alcohol, that their consumption is dangerous to an unborn child. Yet we deem it perfectly legal, even 'responsible' for a mother to have a doctor poison that same child inside her, or rip it to shreds with a surgical instrument.”10 “We live in a schizophrenic world: on the one hand we take care and protect our children, give them social benefits, build day nurseries, kindergartens, schools – which is the proper thing to do –, on the other hand we kill unborn children. We try to give equal rights to the disabled, which is correct, but we destroy handicapped babies while they are in their mother's womb, which isn't correct! It is insane that society kills healthy fetuses by millions, while handicapped children are cared for in costly Perinatal Intensive Care Centers. It is incomprehensible that while the death penalty has been abolished [in Hungary] – which is very good –, the murder of innocent human beings is legalized. In other words: someone who murdered his parents or his children has a right to live, but an innocent baby may be killed. Journalists, who are horrified for weeks if the body of a newborn baby is found in the trash, consider the killing of the same baby a few months earlier while in her mother's womb an unquestionable right.”4 Laws Permitting Abortion on Demand Contradict International Treaties Laws permitting abortion on demand contradict not only the Hippocratic Oath, which most physicians around the world take, but international documents like the Declaration of Geneva and the U.N. Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which protect unborn children. The Physician's Oath is part of the Declaration of Geneva, adopted by the General Assembly of the World Medical Association in Geneva, Switzerland, September 1948, as a response to the atrocities committed by doctors in Nazi Germany. It states: “I will maintain the utmost respect for human life from the time of conception, even under threat, I will not use my medical knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity.” The U.N. Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) states: “Whereas the child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth”, he “shall enjoy special protection, and shall be given opportunities and facilities, by law and by other means, to enable him to develop physically, mentally, morally, spiritually and socially in a healthy and normal manner and in conditions of freedom and dignity”, and to this end “special care and protection shall be provided both to him and to his mother, including adequate pre-natal and post-natal care.” “The child shall in all circumstances be among the first to receive protection and relief" and he “shall be protected against all forms of neglect, cruelty and exploitation.” The Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), signed by the representatives of different governments, basically says the same things. It States that a child “needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth.” Article 6 is new: “1. States Parties recognize that every child has the inherent right to life. 2. States Parties shall ensure to the maximum extent possible the survival and development of the child.” In Article 24 we read “2. States Parties shall pursue full implementation of this right and, in particular, shall take appropriate measures: (a) To diminish infant and child mortality...” and in Article 37 “States Parties shall ensure that: (a) No child shall be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment...” Conclusion Abortion is murder and it should never be legalized by governments. And even if it is permitted by laws and promoted by some groups, it is to be avoided at all costs by pregnant women and fought against by Christians.
